The great Captain Mike is around and I see him from time to time. His reports were the best truthful and to the point. I miss his reports too. He has been a guide for many many years. He has forgotten more than most of us will ever know about fishing and other things in life. If more fisherman wannabes would listen and take to heart what he teaches in his reports rather than try to out guide him he might have not left. I hope he doesn't mind me stepping up to the plate for him but I would do it again anytime. IMS
I know I don't always say things just the right way but I mean well.

seem to recall his departure occurred when all those panties were getting twisted a while back. it's a shame. perhaps if we all remember to keep the BS to a minimum we wouldn't drive educated, insightful, valuable voices from our midst. i really enjoy reading about limits of whitings and all, but it would be nice to hear some reports that present at least a small opportunity for learning.

All BS'ing aside, all this from someone named "Gaspergou". I always thought it was actually spelled "Gaspergoo", at least that is how it was spelled on the local night establishment "The Gaspergoo Lounge" in Anahuac, Tx. We used to fish at Anahuac, in the rice irrigation canals in the early 60's when I was growing up. We mostly caught buffalo that weighed between 2-3 lbs. We used dough balls made out of white bread or occasionally earth worms for bait. The bread was tightly smashed into a hard ball and pressed on a small, but strong hook. When baited it was cast gently into a slow moving current and quickly let all the way to the bottom. We all fished with Zebco 404's back then and if I remember correctly, they seemed to work just fine. Upon landing one of these denizens of the deep it was quickly put on a stringer to protect it from one of the locals. I remember lots of noises, laughter and occasionally a scream from the "Gaspergoo Lounge". I asked my dad what was going on in there and he always replied' "They're practicing TWISTER." Twister was a game we played occasionally that had dots on a plastic mat and everyone would have to move a hand or foot to the color dot that was called. Back to the fishing, I remember this one particular trip where they were biting as fast as the bait hit the water. We had so many fish we had to take most of them to my uncle "Otis". Otis was a hefty looking fellow that If I remember correctly, drank for a living. For some reason he had fingernails that were tougher than an oyster knife. That day I saw a sight that I had not seen before or have ever seen again. He quickly scaled all those "Buffalo" using his fingernails only. He ripped through that pile of buffalo faster than the old Port Aransas fish cleaner, "Roy Lee" could a stack of kingfish. When he had completed his task he invited us all in for supper but my dad quickly declined and we left for the house. I hope this reply was both entertaining and had enough good information so you can head out in the morning and catch a pile of you cousins! Wink Laughing

I miss Mike too. Fished with him many times, caught many fish! Last time I heard from him was August. He talked about moving to Arkansas some day.

I bet if Capt. Mike could find a nice piece of dirt in the Bluff, he would build his forever house.
