Decided to kayak this morning instead of hitting the jetties, as the wind forecast as supposed to be less than 10mph. Well, that was a big ole lie of a forecast, but my buddy John and I were able to find some shelter from the wind, and focus on some deep, warm water.
There was plenty of bait present, and it made for a nice topwater bite from about 8-9:30, when suddenly the bite shut down. Maybe the fish moved shallow as the day warmed up. Catches included several trout to around 22", a small red, puppy drum, and an over zealous hard head. Couldn't find the flounder today.
The catch of the day was this CPR'd trout that went 27". She hit a shallow suspending mirrolure in a mullet-pattern. Another fun day on the water.

That's a great spot for black drum and reds. _________________ "Our houses are protected by the good Lord and a gun And you might meet'em both if you show up here not welcome son" -Josh Thompson |

Nice! My brain says river somewhere from looking at your picture. I think I'll pretty much stay in that frame of mind, for the rest of the night anyway, dazed and confused. Great catch! |
