Picked up one at a garage sale for dirt cheap and so far I'm getting pretty decent results out in the empty field ...

Do any of the veteran anglers here have any pointers - suggestions - mods for this bad boy ... at $10 i would be willing to try and mod'it to compete with the Daiwa and Shimanos i have Smile

i think the plan is to back it, spool it, then 50lb braid it and then top it with 50-75 yards (30-40 lb) mono .... or heavier?

as it will probably be 350-400 capable i guess i can keep this rod for a first to second sandbar rod to prevent getting spooled if anything sizable hits it.

thanks in advance for those who share any advice/comments on the mod recommendation.
