How do you hook a live mullet, so that it stays alive and your still able to cast out in the surf?
How do you hook a shrimp, so that it doesn't come off and stays alive while fishing off a pier or the jetties?
Every time i hook a shrimp to try an keep it alive, any little bite pulls it off. |

You may kill a few mullet at first, but you CAN get the hook through the skull with out hitting the brain, and they will stay on a lot better.
It probably took me 3 or 4 mullet to figure it out, but once I got it, it's easy to find that spot.

I agree mullet tail , and on the shrimp head or tail works but I prefer the head I think it stays on better and keeps a more natural movement , but could be wrong _________________

If you have a wide gap hook, you can hook the mullet thru the eye sockets in front. _________________

For mullet, I will use not only through the tail, but through the eyes. When going through the eyes, as app posed to the head, it is a simple to find the no kill spot.
Use for mullet and muddies only. |

Non-expert, but I've had luck hooking through the belly just ahead of the bung hole 1/8' into the mullet or chad. They swim more naturally (upright) and live a long time. And they don't throw off the hook. _________________ If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is. |
