Mary and I hit the surf this AM but it was snafu after snafu. Got up late. 65 year old eyes can't see small am or pm on coffee maker. Forgot pass to PINS. But things were ok despite these errors.

Went SBH first and no mullet and nothing on cut whiting. Went to M.I. and did better.

Put out rods with cut bait while I tried to cast up some mullet.

Stood for 15 min. and didn't see even 1 mullet.

lots of activity beyond the 2nd sandbar.

Check out the tail under the birds.

Decided it wasn't going to be a redfish day I put a mannolure on my surf rod and cast out to the activity.

1 of 3 smacks caught. Kept this one for NM and released the rest. All were 25"+

As I was standing on the first bar I called to Mary and told her to check out the herons. 2 were being very territorial. Heads raised, wings out and chests puffed up.

They then went into attack mode.

Beaks biting into each other before the one that was there first chased the other a hundred yards or so down the beach.

Before leaving I tried the FPJ but nothing.

Am going to try PINS in the AM. Have my pass in the truck already.

Was after bull reds. Didn't bother for pomps. Caught a couple whiting on fb for bait but that was it.

I fished BHP today until about 1:00pm. Smacks were thick in the 20" to 25" range. I did not see a single pomp caught and I tried myself for a while. No finger mullet and I did not see a red caught either. The water was very nice.
