...but this time Mary and I hit the beach. I told her yesterday that I thought today would be good before the front. Little did I know that my prediction would be true.

Here I am getting ready for the day.

Tried to cast up some mullet but they sere relatively scarce. Caught a few but as soon as they would hit the water the skippies would tear them off the hook. Did cast up loads of skippies that were working the shoreline. Used smaller ones whole and the larger ones for cut bait.

Fighting first fish of the day, a 24" red.

Some storms in the area made for a pretty sunrise. We even got rained on but it felt good.

2nd fish. 31" that had been attacked by something.

The release.

Pulling in a 36.5" bull

A short while later I pull in a 38.5" bull.

And then a 3'shark.

These 3, including a 28" on the nose were contributed to IMS for his next fish fry.

While gutting and gilling the reds this guy came around looking for lunch.

One other exciting thing happened out there as well. I get a good hit and I grab my pole and line is just screaming off. Thought smoke was going to start coming out any time. Then slack, and over the 3rd bar I see a huge shark go air born. I figured it bit through my leader. Nope! When I bring in my line I only had half of a brand new Mustad 9/0 cirlce hook I had just crimped on. That was really heart pumping

Total fish today was the 1 shark, a bunch of hard heads including a monster 17.75", skippies and 11 reds. 5 were oversized. Needless to say I had a fantastic day.

Good day fishing! I love those Reds on the half shell, YUM. Now, I love catching those Sharks BTB fishing, they will give you a good sleigh ride.
Thanks for sharing.

I always look specifically for your posts, Ziacatcher. Without a doubt, you have the highest success ratio to fishing trips of any non-guide person on the board, ULM or surf (OK, the Golla family is way up there also!). Always appreciate your reports - never seems to take you much time to do some good in the ULM or the surf. As an aside, as the father of a former high school girls volleyball player some years ago, I always liked the calm deamenor of the refs - saw recently you are an experienced one.

Ditto Zia.

BTW the FB Girls Junior High volleyball girls went 1-1 against the teachers/coaches yesterday in exhibition.

That encourages me. Going out this weekend for a two day. Told the wife that I was going when things cooled down. Didn't know that it was going to be this bad. We'll see.
