I really liked my 05 F-150 but with the 4.6 and only 4X2 it was sadly underpowered and I swear would get stuck in a puddle of mud on Pavement. It was time for an upgrade and I am loving it so far. I got me a 2012 Tundra with the TRD Package. Has anyone taken one of these down to PINS? How did it do on the sand? Thanks in Advance!

Nice truck man! I had my first experience with the Tundra during this year's Sharkathon. I went along for the ride to the Jetty and back on that Saturday. I was very impressed with the truck. It was also the TRD package. Running back @ high tide made for bad driving conditions. High RPM's for an extended period of time with the wind on our back did nothing to impeed that truck. The tranny and engine stayed cool and I'm sure you'll love that truck. It did great through the sand.

Plus, and something that I've alluded to before, Japan is a freaking island surrounded by TRUE marine water.............. they were forced to confront the corrosion issues years ago and their coatings are second to none for a saltwater environment!

I have an '11 Tacoma 4x4 with the SR5 package and love it! Cool

I have a 2011 Ford FX4 with the Ecoboost engine...and have taken it to the Jetty and back with no issues.

I have an 04 Rubicon that has yet to make its maiden voyage down PINS...but it will soon.

Your Tundra should be just fine.

Have taken my 2010 Tundra loaded with gear for 3 night stay and lo ts of adult beverages to jetty and back. I don't have a lift kit or even off road tires on this truck and have had no problems. Would wider tires and a lift help sure but that is in due time. Engine and trans are great on this vehichle but you have to use common sense no matter what. Have gone up into Yarboorugh Pass as well but again common sense is needed. Good luck and tight lines

Got me an "07" Tundra and have been as far as the 40 mile marker. Heck, even pulled my "pop-up" a couple of times and never felt like I was in any danger of getting stuck. Would like it a little lifted though! Maybe some day! <*/)))><

Thanks all. I look forward to taking it to the sand someday hopefully soon. I need to install a rod holder and some other stuff before taking it out.
