When I was filleting an 18 inch black drum that I caught earlier today, I noticed there was a cluster of worms on a small subsection of one of the fillets. I cut that section out and threw it away.

Is the rest of the meat safe to eat, or do most of y'all just throw away the whole fillet if you spot worms?

I'm new at this and haven't had this happen before. I read online that it's best to just freeze the meat for a couple of days and just cook it well.

I was really surprised how thick the fillets were from the drum. All the ones I've caught in the past have always been very bony. I guess this one had been eating good.

Were they white with a large head?

You really don't have anything to worry about.

Most trout I catch have them, I pull them out and don't even mess with them if they are buried into the flesh too deep
