Got two slot reds, lost two big ones at the Kayak. Seems like H and H lures hold up better than Salt Water Assassins. Last time I was catching reds on Salt Water Assassins it was a one time use had to change them with every fish.

I don't even think they make those red and white lures in 4" anymore, I found those with some fishing stuff that was stashed away from 14 yrs ago. But they still work.

Saltwater assassins last on a twist lock jighead, not a push on jig. When the piggies are out the tails can go pretty quick though. Nice catch dude. I had some beer battered reds this evening. Need to fill that empty spot in the freezer.

You should try the strike king 4" glass minnow blue crab or Hogie's swimming jack shrimp tails late spring thru end of summer. Then you have to go big in the winter 5-6." Hogie has great selections for all seasons.

I did use twist locks but they still destroyed them. I used a push on jig this time cause it was laying around and I just wanted to try these out. I need to get a good beer batter recipe. Thanks for the tip, the plastic is just really soft on them. I think they are fine for trout.

Thanks for the tip, I will post a report if I do good with them. I did have issues before with the redfish magic sold by the same company. The lures kept coming off the jighead and the plastic melted in my tackle box. None of my other lures melted, but those. I do like those suggestions. This article mentions using fishing glue, I might give that a try.http://www.strikeking.com/journal/00145/3.php

shorty, thanks for the link. They do have the 3" sparkle beetles, but I think the ones I have are 4" unless they are measured not including the tail, I haven't checked. Then again the 3" should work fine. I mean we are catching fish, not building rockets.

I do appreciate all the feedback.

Nice report, love the sparkle beetles. Chartreuse/red dot is my favorite color. I still am dying to kayak that area. I need to stop making excuses...
