Shhhhtufff happens, and my trip Saturday got canned, so the wife and I hit the beach today, and found 20+ mph winds out of the north, and a SEVERE current running north to south down the beach.

Water clarity was good, I'd say 7/10, absolutely ZERO mullet.

WE stopped at about the 20 MM, and set up slinging live shrimp and fish bites and dead shrimp and fish bites...caught a bunch of small whiting...which were prevalent, but still hard to catch because the spider weights would not hold the bottom.

I finally got a piece of cut whiting to hold in between the 2nd and 3rd bars, and it sat...and sat...and sat...and sat...and sat...finally something knocked the snot out of it, and then dropped it.

Pretty much how it went today.

Never really saw any activity.

THAT being said...today was encouraging...the wife and I have moved, and this was our first trip from the 'new place'...and we didn't leave anything behind...this may sound minor, but forgetting something while going to PINS can ruin a trip...we were pretty pleased about that.

Second...I got to sit on the beach and smoke a great cigar with my best fishing partner....and despite not catching anything of substance...it was good to enjoy the solitude with the wife...our lives have been pretty tumultuous lately...it was a great day with her, so that makes today a success.

ZERO sea weed...none, nada, zilch, zip. Can't say how happy I was about that.

I did NOT get to try the slideaways...I couldn't get an 8 oz. sinker to hold the bottom...I had that monkey WAY out there...over the 3rd bar and the current was ripping so strong that the darn thing just rolled down the beach...I'll have to try it next time.

I knew today was chancy...with that front moving through...if you can sneak out tuesday or maybe wednesday...I think you might do well.
