Hello,

I live in Port A (glad to give local beach reports btw) and usually fish surf or kayak the backside of Mustang. I don't own a PB anymore. My son and his friend who is deploying overseas this fall is coming in for a fishing trip and they are bringing a PB! I am not asking for info on honey holes etc just a good safe place to go and put the boys on some reds. The young man that is deploying has never caught a Redfish and dreams of catching one............anyone know best bets as I am clueless with the exception of packery channel.

if your going from port a then anywhere along the drop on the backside of mustang is holding fish, if your looking for reds use live shrimp or cut mullet, shad or skipjack on a bubble float set for about 2.5 feet, look at a map and start at the east flats just south of the ship channel and work south, the reds will be right on the drop from shallow to 3-4 feet deep, move every 15 min if no action, fish every gut, sand spit or bar esp if holing bait and have some movement. hope this helps and your son gets one before he is deployed
