Corrosion X, Penn Protect, etc.
Make sure to wash them good with freshwater first.

Swap the hooks out with good hooks like Owner. You'll catch more fish because they're "sticky" sharp and they last a long time even if nothing is done to them.

You get what you pay for...........................

I use CLR on just about everything that develops surface rust, once I forgot I had my pocket knife while wading and I thought it was a gonner but I submerged it in CLR and all the rust disappeared.

When the hooks are toast, or when they are bent out and over-rusted, is there a preferred way place to dispose of them (Like mono fishing line)? I know that the folks that pick up our trash hate having "sharps" put in 3mil platic bags for them to handle. Also, I was thinking the lead in old jig heads should be recycled as well. What do you all think?

I cut up rusted hooks in small pieces so they're not dangerous.
