| hey guys, my buddy and I are planning to do some BTB and a rig run on Saturday morning... wanted to see if anyone else was planning something maybe we could tag team it... we have never been to a rig so figured all the pro's here would be good company! Pretty sure we will be leaving from behind the Myan Princess.. Thanks |

Howdy!
A couple of guys on TKF are talking about going in the BTB section; they mention going to Mayan Princess rigs too.
I want to go myself but not sure if I can make it yet. Will post if I do. |

....not sure of your knowledge of fishing out there, so some of this may be a reapeater to you. If the weather is calm, I like to figure out my drift, and then tie off to the downcurrent side of a rig, you either need a rig hook 80$ or heavy rope with a solid 3-4' loop, if not you have to motor fish it making drifts past and such, or troll around them.
If you tie off, bring a bunch of chum, grab a box of sardines, and some ribbonfish, cut them with a pair of cheap shears really small. Start a chumline going should bring kings, macs, ling, and sharks in, let a few lines out in the current, some with no weight, some with a little, you should get some action pretty quick. Same goes for drifing. Look for fish on the surface especially the big brown ones...... |

sry didn't realize yall were in yaks!!!!
a lot of the same applies out there tho, I wouldn't chum tho, lol. I would bring a BIG curlytail grub, white on a jig head or bucktail to fish for ling, tip it with squid and hammer the platform. let it sink 3/4 way to bottom and aggresivly retrieve. I've caught big ling out of my yak on those. |

I'll be down there Monday for a week, I bought some BIG Gulp curly tails (6") and will be using those on a 2 oz jighead around the rigs. I might dress them up with a skirt.
I think Roys has them. |

| I'm down to go. I was planning on doing the stand off BHP because my dinky 2wd car won't make it far on the sand to get to the mayan princess on mustang island. If somebody wants to carpool and tote my yak, that would be awesome. PM me if somebody can help out or if somebody wants to the stand off BHP. |

Howdy!
I'm gonna make it; coming from San Antonio late Friday night. I'm no pro...it's gonna be my first trip to any rigs.
ltorna1: hope you can get a ride...I have a 2-door Blazer 4x4 with little room to spare. It has a roof rack but I don't have a kayak carry system so not sure if two yaks would fit on top as is. How big is your yak? I have a 12 ft and a Frenzy I will see if both fit on top. If they do we might be able to figure something out. |

| I will see you out there. There is apparently a kayak tournament and MANY people from TKF kayak board going out, not to mention the typical weekend warriors in power boats. It should be crowded out there, but maybe more lines in the water = more fish? Who knows. I just can't wait to get past that muck in the surf and see some clear water for a change. It has been TOO long. |
