An offshore trip is in the making and was wondering...where to go to find and how to catch ribbon fish for bait.

I was thinking about picking up some frozen ones for Saturday. I guess great minds think alike.
I PM'ed a member or two but no advice forthcoming. I will check AP on my way over on Saturday AM for some frozen....maybe at HEB.
If you find a source and want to split costs....let me know.

If you want to catch them yourself then TD is right Lake padre is the place.
But if you want to get some frozen and package up by the dozen, Clem's Bait stand has them. I watched the package up 500 dozen the other day.

I see them a lot in the canal lights. But they freak me out. Big toothy wolf headed snake beasts. Blegh. And when you fight them they do this weird curley q thing. Did I mention blegh? Dead and frozen is OK by me!

That looks tasty......if I didn't know what they looked like. My buddy caught a 5'+ ribbonfish in lake padre at night, it was a bigone, probably several pounds.

Lake Padre? That's a new one on me that I've never heard of. We always caught them under the lights at Red Dot. bobber and a dead shrimp.

Caught a bunch during the daytime trolling a small Yozuri crankbait in the main canals in the older portion of Padre. First canal south of Snoopy's used to work well.
