got to bob hall and conditions were looking great, wish i could have got out with prof. salt today the surf looked really nice

i could see bird on both sides of bob hall on top of bait and Bonito..

got my slide set up in the gut, rabbit was out on the pier and gave me a blue runner..
i heard two kings were landed just 30minutes earlier out on the T...
i see a big king come out of the deep water in the gut and bump my bait...
i hold my rod for about 10minutes, thinking he may come back...i put the rod in the rod holder and rabbit came to talk to me, we both watch a big king come from the deep and smash my runner...

it takes off towards the beach like crazy, he probably got 250yards out (i though i had hooked a tarpon)

i took this pic then gave the camera to another pier goer...

same rod that i caught that big black tip on two days ago(it seems to be on fire Smile )

gaffed after a nice battle, finally my first king from the pier for 2012
(took 2+months to get that first run lol)

hooked on a 5/0 all purpose bait hook trailed by a 6/0 gamagatsu circle hook on 58pound tooth proof wire and a 80pound spro swivel...

pretty cool pic..

measured it after bleeding it(cut it's tail off) without a tail it went 37inches...pretty nice fat king (ended up giving it away, because i already have two kings i need to cook from two days ago)
thanks for the bait rabbit! Wink
till next time... Cool

side note- almost hit some huge box on the entrance ramp headed to town by the Waldon highway entrance...
seemed to be a washer machine or dryer or something...not something you want to hit, anyway just a heads up

awesome....meant nothing bad by my comment, just green with envy...i'm kicking the idea around about hitting the area this weekend, but with Babes on the Bay and Beach to Bay, i might just stick it out at the ranch again this weeknd.

Livin the dream. Retired and fishing at the ripe age of what looks like ~30 maybe? Keep the reports coming!

looked great to me, two days ago the weed was broken up and spread all over the first mile out...

i wanted to jump in a yak and start paddling Cool

the water color was good(i would give it an 8 ) on a 1-10 scale...and the breaking waves were really tight to shore..

The reason I'm asking...I'm either going to either hit the BHP tomorrow and toss some jigs/spoons for smacks and what have you, just to get a line stretched, or head to the north sticks and fling some topwaters early and see if I can fish with the long rods.

I'm not really geared up to slide line off the pier, and recovering financially from writing a $4K check to Uncle Sam and buying a new washer and dryer...going and buying a gaff, slides, and other gear won't go over too well with the CFO of Lord Humongous Inc. right now.

I figure there ought to be some trout out in the surf early that want to eat a super spook or spook jr. Who knows.
