This from the National Weather Service in Brownsville. (The link is to a picture from the KHOU.com website in Houston).
Would suck to be surf-fishing down there right about now!

For whatever reason, it was frequently that way in the mid/late 60's when we'd go out. _________________ Dave

What a crappy life man-o-wars have. I wonder if they even know they are alive ? Or do they really care that they are stranded and going to die? _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I have been on the beach at Galveston before when it seemed like thousands of jellyfish were beached. I have also been there a couple of times in the late '60s and mid-70s when sharks were everywhere in the surf and hundreds if not thousands of small ones were beached and dead.
I never knew what cause the problem, other than with the jellyfish possibly currents and wind pushed wave action.
With the sharks, it just seemed like every shark in the Gulf was cruising right offshore in throwing distance from where I stood. I hadn't seen that before, and had no idea why they congregated there. _________________ Ray |
