SwellInfo predicts rapidly falling wave heights beginning mid-Monday and going flat on Tuesday and Friday. Anyone going down PINS after pomps next week please report on the density of beached dead hardheads, measured in ppm (punctures per mile), and red tide aerosols so the rest of us may decide whether to follow.

Last Sunday I took my dad to the jetties at Isla Blanca Park Jetties (South Padre Island). As we got ready to start fishing, one fisherman stopped by us to show us his ice chest full of pompanos, quite large ones too. 5 minutes later, another fisherman passed by us with a stringer of about 15 pompanos. All fish were caught on dead shrimp. My dad managed to bring in 4 pomps. I used artificial but to no avail, let my dad use up the dead shrimp and he had a blast. Water was very clear but as the waves crashed unto the rocks, we kept getting splashed on.

We'll be spending Wednesday there targeting Pomps. I'll post a report. I know the aerosols might be bad... but can't pass up the weather.

Is the damn red tide permanent? What the hell kills it off? It's been windy, it's been rainy, the temp has dropped. WTH?

Went out today after lunch. Drove from BH to the south sticks. The beach is a flat parking lot and packed solid. Water has apparently been in the dunes last couple of days and the beach is pristine.

Waves were one row under a foot, clarity is pure muck at the moment with green water about 800yds out, hopefully it'll be better by tomorrow.

No red tide, no throat irritation, no dead fish.

Didn't catch a damn thing. Embarassed

i was dumb enough to drive an old rodeo down a few miles after a big fish kill awhile back, and the dead fish were so thick i couldn't avoid running over some of them. i not only got 3 flats, but i also threw so much dead fish into the wheel wells that that truck stunk bad for months...
