Hit the beach right before lunch and made it all the way to mile marker 50 before giving up and turning around. Redtide started about mile 19 and only got worst as we went further. Talked to a couple on the way back from the Jetties and he told me it was just terriable all the way down. We did find a massive gill net (around 30 feet long) washed up around mile 46 and also a dead sea turtle around mile 25ish. Was able to load up on some nice floats and off the gill net and plenty of others along the way. Found a nice crab trap around mile 32 and also saw 4 large gar dead along the way. Thousands of dead mullet from 20ish up, along with hardheads mixed in. Also thousand of Manowars along the beachs total length. Finally stopped to fish at the pass and found out that our 3lbs of shrimp that were bought at the HEB FB were no where to be seen!! Was able get cell phone reception and call them, spoke to manager who said to come on back in. Wow!! Cant imagine if we had made it all the way to the jetties and not shrimp... Got to HEB and they said theyd give me the courtesy of replacing the shrimp that they didnt get placed in my cart! I had a few choice words but choose to keep em to myself and just take the bait and head back down. We did come across that couple who told us about the jetties on the way in to FB and and gave them a ride to their travel trailer back at mile 5ish, they had 3 flat tires from hardhead punctures.. Told them we were going into town and could help them out with the tires but they said the had family coming up this morning to help them. I told them I'd stop by on the way back and pull there trailer up to their truck so that they wouldnt get their rods, generator, ice chest and other valuables stolen over night. Pulled their trailer the up the truck around mile 9ish and set them up. Fished the pass and managed drums and few reds over night. Left this morning to the couple waving as we passed (with all 3 tires taken off) and hit up La Tapitilla in FB before heading home. Turned out to be a pretty eventful trip.

Alligator gar regularly move in and out of saltwater. Back in the mid 60's I saw one about 5-6' long cruising next to the old concrete pier at the NAS.

Just wish that karma helps when Im in trouble one day. I helped pull a couple of college kids out once and had them pass me right up about ten mins later when I had a flat. Im mean I didnt need any help but damn! Any how has anyone been down and seen if that couple made it out ok? Also, when I was filleting those fish I noticed that the Black Drum had "more" than usual large bone masses on them?.... I fish Loyola Beach every week and have noticed more and more that these are becoming the norm. Anyone know what these are? My reds and specks have never had them. Thanks for the info in advance.

" That will come back to bite them 1000 times over. As for you, just put a decal that says "mansfieldjetties" on your truck and I'll stop to help you any time, any where!
