I plan to get one for a late Birthday present. I was wondering if it was better to get the 130 or 120. 120 actually has three different grinding wheels whereas the 130 has two and one slot that acts like a sharpening steel.
My bro in law has the 130 and loves it. Some reviews say to get the 120 due to the extra sharpening slot. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

I have the 120 and love it. Not a dull knife at my house! _________________

I have the 120. It's awesome for kitchen and fillet knives. The angles are a bit off for thick hunting knives and some pocket knives (for my preference anyway), but for everything else, love it. If it broke today I would order a new one today. I have never used the 130, but I like a ceramic "croc stick" over a steel, and I think the fine slot on the 120 is like a croc stick. _________________

Gotta smooth it out a bit if you want to shave. Anybody ever try the 32000? Haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet.

That looks killer Jason. I think I may get that one too just for tools etc. It would not looks as sexy as the 120 on the counter. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

A trip to Harlingen to the new Bass Pro Shop could be in order! It would save on the shipping costs and I could squeeze in Progreso too! _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

The harlingen bass pro would definatly be worth a trip. The store is massive, it even has a bowling alley in it. I installed the automatic doors there, its gonna be tough making service calls there _________________ -Mando |

Rob sent me a pic of the bowling alley. They have shark mouths in the ball returns. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

True. I haven't used mine on any tools, but anyone can use it to get knives shaving sharp. I sharpened some safety (school approved rounded edge) scissors that you could fillet a redfish with the other night.... |

We have the 110 model and looking at the comparison chart, I would rather have the 120 with the pre-sharpening stage for really dull knives than the steeling feature.
You probably already own a steel anyway.
If you are going to Progresso, be sure to go to Bass Pro first. Go to the gun department and ask for the Progresso kit. (contains an AK-47, crossing bandalaros and 250 rounds of ammo)

I also have the 110 and all of my knives are dull, but since I pulled it out to see which one it is it's time to start sharpening. |

Am I the only one here that thinks these tings blow? My uncle who lives down there taught me how to sharpen a knife on an Arkansas stone when I was in 5-6 grade................. so sharp that you could shave with it. He now has and uses one of these contraptions and there's nor a really sharp knife in the house!!!!
When I was down there for the last OS trip I had to work on an edge in the middle of my fish cleaning. The electric job just made them duller. I asked if he still had an Arkansas stone and oil, and he said in the middle drawer. Maybe 2 minutes on that puppy and I was good again.

I use a stone always have your knife developes an angle/bevel at which the individual holds it. So yes it might take a good sharpening on a electric counter top top sharpener to change the bevel completely. After that, let the edge take a ride on a ceramic or steel hone and you will have an edge that is scary sharp. R-A-Z-O-R _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
