To summarize the facts - locally (port A to bob hall) there have been fish kills pretty much the whole stretch of beach - some areas worse then others, some days worse then others. The algal bloom is a kind like living entity and it blooms and dies, shrinks and expands.
The report from Corpus Christi near tamucc from caller times wasn't verified as far as I know. Although, leaving work yesterday I did see a large widespread school of birds diving on fish (live or dead?) along ocean drive by tamucc.
Compared with reports from TPWD, take caller times reports with a grain of salt. Betteer to get it from the horses mouth. As far as making it into bays, it made it all the way through packery to the small bridge right before the island - and apparently the depper channels off the ICW in that general area. The bloom has been moving in and out of packery with the tide.
All that being said - some people are still fishing bob hall, still fishing the surf, and still fishing packery - despite aerosols and deadfish. Some are even catching fish. As I mentioned - the bloom moves around and changes on a day to day basis.
As for me - I plan on fihsing the bay tomorrow, not far from packery, but in water that has been red-tide free for days. If you plan on fishing the laguna or any one of the bays you should be good to go. |
