Hit the beach south of BHP about noon to 3:30. Caught 1 30 1/4 inch red and one 39 1/4 inch red. Lost one red and caught one keeper and 3 undersized reds. 2 skipjacks and 1 blue and 3 hardheads. All in 2 1/2 hours.

Thats better than what i did rabbit,I fished the surf north of bob hall only fished for an hour and no takers in the first gut so i went to packery park
and fished there with no luck.Went back to packery bridge and reds were hitting there on a in coming tide,Spent a few hours there and managed
to pick up a couple of reds. Well the guys at work that have been going fishing and i are going to make a fish fry for all the employee's at our department. I think were around 80 to 90 employees in our department.
Thats a big fish fry. No fishing tomorro ill be busy frying,See ya on the water.

Heading out to the same place tomorrow morning with my kid. What did you use - and what cut were you working. |

We caught a couple of big mullet - and cut those - got bites but nothing exciting. THen a school of finger mullet came through and we netted half dozen of those. I missed a couple of good bites, then slowly dragging my bait through over the sand bar and into the the first cut, something big picked it up and fought me right close to the shore - and then the line snapped - this was the only rig we had that I had tied without a leader. Daughter saw the fish and believes it was a large red - she was close to it with a gaff. So instead of blackened redfish, I got a fish story - doesnt come close to the flavor. But he is still there - I will get him next week.
Oh, the cut mullet got me a very large skipjack - and one small whiting. |
