I have always shot semis so I have a quick question for my sister-in-law about choke selection on O/U's. Is the second barrel that fires supposed to be a little tighter than the first barrel? She has a Beretta Silver Pigeon II that her late husband left her. She plans on shooting dove.
I would think the first shot is the original best shot and the second shot is farther away so the choke should be a little tighter because by that time the bird is farther away. Is that right or do you use the same choke thinking the shot will be about the same distance. Does this really depend on the shooter. She is a novice shooter.

Yes, take advantage of the second barrel. I usually have an improved in the first barrel, a light modified or modified in the second barrel. The only time this reasoning doesn't work is if the birds are flying straight at you. If that's the case, then a quick switch of the barrel selector will allow the shooter to use the tighter constriction first when the birdnis farther away...make sense?

Thanks for the reply. I forgot I posted this until my sister-in-law asked if I ever heard anything. Prolly had a few beers the night I posted. Thanks.
