Well, is it??? I know mine is not because I didn't buy it at Whole Foods. Yes I am talking about your meat in the fridge!!! Beef, Pork, and Chicken. Whole Foods which is based in Austin has started a program to sell "animal compassionate" meats. Ya gotta read this. PETA is gonna love this.

I can see it now, fishing guides playing soft background music, suction cup hooks that stick to the fish instead of hooking them, fish resperators to revive them... I think the meat will cost to much and it will phase out. If I have the choice to buy a steak for $8 that came from a cow that was confined in a pen and a steak that cost $12 from a cow that roamed I think the $8 steak would be on my grill. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

It the fat marbling that makes a steak good!
Take a look at prime beef - if you can find any - and you will see fat running all through the meat. Kobe Beef is considered the best prime beef around, and is close to 50% fat!
Kobe beef is raised in pens, and feed nothing but feremented hops, barley, wheat and rice. Makes the meat tasty, juicy and tender.
With all the alchohol they consume, Kobe beef cows may not be freeranging, but they are too drunk to care!!! _________________ GOBZA!!!

| Back when it was first getting started Whole Foods employed a lot of the "drag worm" types we called them for checkers and sackers. White guys with Rasta hair, hacky sack types and on rollerblades, the girls didn't shave their underarms and wore those black chinese ballet shoes. I felt like Hank Hill when I went in there. You knew just by lookin at em that they weren't right. |

Just a point about the free-range beef vs. the marbling. The feed used to fatten cattle has little relation to what would be their normal diet. The result is that what you are eating is not what would be what nature designed you to eat. The ration of omega6 to omega 3 oils in fatten beef is all out of whack vs. what you would get from grass fed beef.
I had a doctor recommend the Paleo diet, not to loose weight but as a lifestyle type of thing. I did drop from from a 38" waist to a 32" and I am not really dieting-just placing emphasis on eating healthy (I am feeling better and hitting the gym harder, too. Kinda getting buff.). Its basically just lean meats and veggies-nothing hard about that. Fresh fish is definitely on the menu. |

never heard anyone saying"I'm gonna treat myself to a big juicy tofu" after a hard day. Beef, it;s what's for dinner. and yeah, we raise it! _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

I would think that true animal compassionism would be vegetarianism....
this is marketing in it's prime form. I like what it said about putting nose rings in the pigs to keep them from rooting around (on the non-compassionate farms)...now I know why some of Austin's most colorful people wear them as well.... _________________ No matter where you go, there you are.... |
