Is anyone experiencing problems at this time? My newest unit still gets fix within a minute or so but my older GPS will not get a fix until I'm out 20 miles or so. The story talks about a future implementation date, so I am curious if they are testing at this time? _________________ Live like you're dying |

LightSquared is doing testing in labs and real world around the DC metro area. There is no other testing going on anywhere in this spectrum.
The interference everyone has been experiencing on all wireless over the last 90 days has been caused by atmospheric RF / EMF, sun spots/flares and the like. It should pass in the next 30 - 45 days. |

The "upgrade" they are talking about for your GPS is a faster processor. The only wayt to do that is to get a "new" one. rumor is lightSquared is willing to fund the upgrade program but niether Garmin or TomTom can or will tell them what their $$$ exposure is to such a program.
Lastly if you use GPS on your cell phone for driving or general directions you should experience no problems since your looking at a different spectrum set and a much faster processor in the device. |

A clear, succinct summary of the entire issue and current status is given here: http://www.pnt.gov/interference/lightsquared/
The threat is real and persists at this moment, despite LightSquared's submission of resolution to the government. I would guess CCA's request that you give some response to your elected representatives is probably not a bad idea. I say this because of Obama's commitment to a national broadband plan. |

| In response to an email I received - yes, I realize I repeated the link Mike gave in his original post - my point is that the threat is real and very much alive, One would think that the government would do nothing to infringe upon the proper functioning of an immense network that involves both marine and aviation navigation, but politics may well trump the day if we are not vigilant. |
