My friend Kyle Taubert aka Ginman and his family found this while cleaning in my section at the Billy Sandifer Big Shell Beach Cleanup

Below you will see the email I sent after finding Curt on Google in one old story about drift cards from 2003

Back

Drift card photo attached and was found about 17 miles south of the pavement on the Padre Island National Seashore south of Corpus Christi, TX this past Saturday March 19th by one of our volunteers in the 16th Annual Billy Sandifer Big Shell Cleanup. (Over 500 people picked up 44 tons of garbage along 9.5 miles all in 4 wheel drive only territory)

This email address may be old but is the only one I have found concerning identifying where this came from.

The card says:

No E4052

OCSEA Program Office

NOAA/ERL (RX4)

Boulder Colorado 80302

USA

Dear Tyler:

You have made an amazing find. This is one of the drift cards released by NOAA in the 1970s or 1980s.

I will look up the exact date and location where it was released.

Could you write more about your amazing find?

Sincerely,

Curt

I am waiting on the latest response from Curt to find out the origin of this drift card.

If it was orange, I'd say it might be some I picked up on a trip to Costa Rica in the early '80's and dropped over while fishing off the East Breaks. I'll look around and see if I still have one or two left.

This one was light blue, Animal Chris. I will tell you that I have the word on it. I am going to put it out in my Saltwater Angler article so I won't give you all the details until it is published. I will tell you that it was released in July of 1979. The plot thickens! Razz
