How are these guy's service department when it comes to repairing/maintaining Evinrude motors? Has anyone had either a positive or negative experience with them? _________________

I went there a few years ago and they would not help me because I did not buy my boat there. I had bought a seadoo there about a month earlier, but that did not count. I would say more but it would be way to ugly and Tyler would probably have to remove the post......

Without going into details, I was very unhappy with the GCM service department this summer. Will not return. _________________ E Pluribus Unum |

David....If you motor is out of warranty I would recommend using
Richard Ridgeway 946-1751. He did a water pump for me and a few other things and I was very pleased with his service, work, turnaround time and price.
Never used GCM so can't contribute any information one way or the other.

My buddy spent 30 grand on a boat there, they couldn't ever get the gauges to work properly. I think it was on the fifth time in for warranty work the trolling motor got ripped off. There response was "oh well, that kinda thing happens". After that he took it to gunderland, where he did't buy it. They fixed the problem first time for warrenty, no cost to him. Needless to say, he has a few a choice words for GCM, not so good ones!

Based on my experiences there, I can say I will not buy another boat from them and I can say they will not lay a wrench on my motor. Anything else would be considered impolite, except to say I don't know how they stay in business. I will be calling Richard when I have some work done this fall.

Since Gunderland is no longer a BRP / Evinrude authorized warranty repair center, I took my E-tec to Portland Marine, prompt, courteous, fair pricing, in my experience with them..

Not all that shot in the azz about my treatment at GCM.
I fished with Richard offshore and he's a standup guy. I plan to bring my skiff over to him to rig some stuff. _________________ Jeff

Unfortunately Richard does not have the diagnostic equip. to work on a 2004 Evinrude Ficht. Friendly guy though. _________________

Well I went back to this thread because I now have had a experience with Gulf Coast Marine. I had my computer and a injector crash on my Etech
this past week. I'm going to say, I wasn't real sure I was doing the right thing by having Gulf Coast Marine look at and repair my motor but I didn't want to haul it all the way across the bay.
I got to tell you guys Chris in service and Judy in parts did an outstanding job . What normally takes 14 days, computer repair and injector replacement was done in 8 days with no extra expences like shipping or overtime. The price, I felt was fair and the boat runs real good, with the new download and all the updates.
I know some of you have had bad experiences but I want to say they did me a very good job at a fair price...

Gulf Coast Marine - worked there for 1 1/2 years to learn all I could about boats. I was witness to a lot of customers that were dissatisfied with the way they were treated - some were justified, some were not. I found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful - management not so much. Gulf Coast Marine relies on new customers - because once you do business with them you will not go back - and they could care less. Only thing worse than being a Gulf Coast customer is being an employee of Gulf Coast Marine. Nuff said.
