I'm looking for a rifle to take down some hog and deer this season. I'm new to the hunting scene, so I just want to get something inexpensive for starters before I "GO BIG".
I'm looking to spend 100-200 bucks (the cheaper the better). I know at that price, my options aren't much, but I really just want something that's gonna shoot straight.

You will be hard pressed to find anything in that price range. If you are looking for a rifle with a scope, $400-600 is a more realistic range. Might try some of the pawn shops. Might even try Academy, they have soem relatively inexpenisve rifle/scope combos, but I don't think any of them are in the $100-$200 range Good luck!

For that price the best I think your gonna get is the Rossi single shot, break action rifles they sell at Academy......I think you can get them in .243 Win an 7mm/08 which is are both good rounds for down here. They run about $200.

Shoot straight and cheap dont normally go together very well, however, the gun show is also a good place to check out a large selection of different types of guns. Realisticly $300-400 is bottom line on an entry level rifle that you would want to hunt with, and more than likely thats well used.

BUT, its not impossible, and there is a gunshow next weekend in your neck of the woods, if you live in CC. Sheck it out....

Corpus Christi, TX
Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds
1213 Terry Shamsie
Robstown, TX
78380

Show Hours:
Sat. 9am - 6pm
Sun. 9am - 5pm

Oct 23-24, 2010

Its 5 dolla make you holla to get in and probably a few buck parking, but well worth it. Plus you get to see a few crazies as well. Good times....

havnt ever shot one but you can get a used russian mosin nagant for around $100 and then buy a scope. the only prob might be the ammo. i dont know if they have it at wal mart, academy, or gun shops around here?

The best way to go would be to research some fair prices for guns on google or something, then go to the gun show like they said earlier. www.budsgunshop.com usually has decent prices for firearms if you wanna do some research there.

I think the 100.00 mosin would be the way to go. I have never shot one with a scope but open sites no problem keeping it on an 8x11 sheet of paper. They are a dime a dozen and have plenty of juice to knock down anything around here. PLus the ammo is super super cheap but corrosive!

My buddy just bought a taurus 243 single shot from academy for his son. Rossi is another brand for that price range. Most cases all you get is 1 shot anyways. Thats all i need Laughing he paid i think $212 or so complete with scope. Definately not bad a bad price for a starter G. A 243 is all you need for TX.
