Check out the story.

Dragging "snag" hooks across the bottom, and then "harpooning" your catch!!! WOW.... Then, she has the 'b@lls' to call herself a Hunter Mad

Unbelievable......

Sad indeed.

"Look, that's the biggest alligator I've ever seen - let's kill it!"

And that woman looked really proud.

Saw one eat a lab chasing a duck. It was about 1986 or 87. Never forget it..... BOOM!, one yelp, splash, splash and nothing but some blood. It happened so fast no one said a word until a minute or two after. My uncle asked who was wading in to pick up the decoys. we pciked them up by boat.

It was awful, ruined what had been a unbelieveable weekend of quacker smacking.

Whoa, that would be rough to see, esp if you were the dog owner.

Glad we aren't in gator country.

It was the guides dog. He cried just like I would have. I have been told that several dogs a year are lost in cental fl while duck hunting.

snagging it with a spinning reel and then harpooning it seems like a strange way of getting the job done. i was curious why they were doing that so i did a little googling. found this article, where they claim it is illegal in that state to shoot a free swimming alligator.

Don't they have similar laws in TX and FL? IIRC, the reasoning is to prevent injury to a gator that escapes, that is, to get a good kill shot by getting the gator on a rope.

40lbs of meat? Hmmmmm, terrible yield!

you guys are so fickle.......and rightly so. I don't think I would shoot the gator - crock...bang bang. rattle snake - no.... so much discrimination to deal with ( Not racial,,, identification )

why not gripe over the killing of a big buck...$$$ ....not properly funding your IRA,,,,??? no education,,,,??

an English prof told my class (not that I agree, this is just what he said) - "we will come together to fight the abuse of pets/animal and we, seperately, will readily send our children to war,,prioritites?? "

I thought I was on the wrong site for a minute?

Would it be more humane if the gator was caught with a baited hook hanging from a shoreline tree? Poor little guy....it almost brings a tear to my eye.
