Nice fish. Thanks for posting and welcome to corpusfishing.
You know, I've heard that the big ones don't taste well. One time my son hooked a big one and a shark chomped his tail on the way in so we kept him. Cut him into three big chunks with a saws-all. We had wonderful fish tacos that fed 20 or so people. It was great. L |

My son kept a 37" red last year. He had promised some people redfish on the half shell and that was the only one he caught. Normally he would not keep one that big. I had some and it was delicious. Only difference was it had the consistancy of a very tender beef steak. _________________ Big Ed

At that size, the meat is WAY too yellow, too many parasites, and much too stringy. That has been my experience with big reds. Fun to catch, nice to mount, but let them go to produce eggs for future "plate-size" offspring. |

Yes he was huffin & puffin by the time he got it in. It probably took him 15 minutes to get him in, I had to jump down off the concrete onto the rocks to get him up on the concrete. It was a blast
Tom has caught big fish before, just never a redfish. He has caught an 18 lb. steelhead on a flyrod. |
