Has anyone seen the crazy s#$t that has been going on with the deer blind boats lately I'm just curios isn't it aganist the tpw laws to harass game fish with a motor boat. Last weekend in the flats behind pita I was able to keep on top of some reds for a while by drifting and trolling .Then I saw a tower boat coming out of bluffs and sure enough they came in to take a look and piled in no more than sixty yards out and were throwing lures before the boat came off plane. After some exchanged words and much irritation the fish were gone. Is there any law on the water? _________________ Another one bites the deck |

Wish the tourney rules were re-written to ban tower boats (driving position more than a certain feet above waterline). Seems like a bunch of the tower boats are fished by tourney guys.
They may be effective, but philosophically stealth is much more appealing to me. I guess it's been the influence of being around really good fisherman who don't need a tower to catch fish. _________________ Jeff

| I sometimes prefer a good wind to mess up the water to keep them from doing it. |

I don't even like hunting deer from a blind. Why would I fish from one.

impossible to read the water when the fish is not moving or hiding in the deep grass.. But I indeed can see them much better when I'm on my 5 foot tall poling platform.
Anyone with a flats boat is guilty of seeing a school of redfish and driving up wind of them to crash them. The point has nothing to do with the damn boats people run it has to do with the civility and selfishness of the person at the helm. Don't crash another man's school if the school is big enough for 2 to fish it go way up wind and drift into it. If not go find fish elsewhere.. I see butt holes every day in tunnel v's drive 50 yards downwind of my drift but that's ok because its not a burn boat right? |

Great point Robul.............................. just like "guns don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people"! A jerk is a jerk no matter what type of boat he's driving.
On the same note, I've had party boats nearly run me over at the end of the Destin jetties before. They start the day by "letting" the paying customers catch all the live bait on Sabiki rigs, and the bait balls are at the end of the jetties. The jerks could pull up next to me and do just as well, but they want THE exact piece of water that I'm on and don't think jack about pushing someone out of it!!! _________________ Dave

Yes indeed. The law of common sense, and as you know, it surely is not in the jurisdiction of many out there. _________________

I think it's because we know where the fish are. If a fish is not moving doesn't mean you can't see it. The only reason you can't see a fish that isn't moving is because someone doesn't know how And you can't see them in the grass because their in camo gear
But really I'm kinda like BCKALASH75...I'm really getting tired of the tower boats running the flats killing the grass and harrassing and crashing the redfish. Try using the trolling motor and working with the other boats around the school. You'll catch alot more.
It seems like when someone get a tower boat their state of mind on the water changes.
Most "V" hulls are boat drivers that don't have any idea what their doing...right or wrong and will drive over some of the best fishing area
or cut off your drift. Happens to me daily.
But the guys running the tower boats know better.....they just don't know how to read the water.

Capt Mike said "It seems like when someone get a tower boat their state of mind on the water changes."
Same thing with a PWCs: as soon as most folks get on one they become as dumb and obnoxious as your "typical" PWC user, and no, I won't pull any punches or make any exceptions on this one for those VERY FEW who own and use one and DON'T go out of their way to harass and bother others...................................................... because they are indeed a very small, infinitesimal minority of the PWC crowd!!! _________________ Dave

| The number and techniques of burn boats has become a real pain in the butt! I have noticed that when fishing areas that are holding redfish you get about two flybys an hour. The fish have been much more skiddish in my areas this summer. |
