Had the chance to fish with my neighbor Robert Hill (Rockstar Bob) Thursday and Friday. Robert is a fantastic fly fisherman, a very easy going guy and a go early- stay late grinder of the first order. We fly fished, or at least took fly rods, and did long wades from the very northern stretches of Deadman's to the Nine Mile Hole, Landcut, Baffin, Yarborough, Nighthawk and points in between. It is difficult to describe the lack of red fish we saw. High tides, tropical storm, burner boats (out in droves)?? If you're looking for reds in any numbers, trust me - they ain't on the flats at this juncture. But the company is always good - thanks Robert!

Thought I saw you headed out Sat. morning, but wasn't sure it was you.
It was still a little dark and I haven't seen your boat enough to be sure.
Anyway the fish are still deep.

We saw a few at Deadman's on Thursday but most of them 7 caught by me were under 20. Skipper did get a limit from 20 to 23".

Deadman's was the only place we saw reds in any numbers as well. Robert saw 6-7 on the shoreline and I saw a couple in deeper water but like you, Tyler, they were small and definitly not interested in a fly. On the other end of the ULM, we saw perhaps 4 reds total drifting the western side of the land cut between marker 4 and the summer house flats. That's a pretty good drift to see very few fish. I think we proved Capt. Singleterry's perspective - they're deep.

We've been doing alright in the Oso, believe it or not, less than 200 yards from Ocean Dr. Blindcasting will work fine, but the fish are nosing around in the grass deep enough to hide them. Sightcasting would be difficult.

That's Ok Rusty, they should start moving back to the flats when we get a couple of cool fronts through the area and a little wind to get some oxygen back in the water.
