The title says it all. No catching...not even one fish...not even a hardhead.

Went out to an area that I have fished a little...not enough to know
the patterns of the place real well, but I thought I would do some more schooling. Fished all over and tried all the different structures that might produce fish....nada.

Ended up on some sandy flats and poled up a little gut back into a
cove area. Huge number of finger mullet everywhere, and yes, redfish all over the place. Just one thing though, not one of them was hungry for anything I tossed at 'em. Mullet under a Mauler, free lined mullet, gold spoon, silver spoon, seven varieties of sand eels and other soft plastics and even though it was noon, I threw a couple of different top water's at em. Nothing. The reds were just cruising around. They would swim right by me without any care in the world. One swam up to my wading boots as my feet dangled over the side of the Yak, examined the boots for about 10 seconds, tilted his head so he could look at me a little better and then casually swam away. Probably thinking it was time for me to buy new boots.

I did hook up once...for about 3 seconds before the skippy threw the hook.

If I hadn't promised my wife I would be home at a reasonable hour, I would have stayed right there until they decided it was dinner time.

I will be looking at that cove again.....soon.

Dont feel bad. Same day, Same time, Same fishing situation, and same wife. I fished for 4 hours and didnt catch a thing. I havent been skunked in a year or so. This was an actual skunked day.
One or two blowups on tops, saw reds everywhere, threw gulps and all. NOTHING!! I hooked up only once also, on what I believed to be a redfish but lost him quick.....Strange day, it happens!!

the fishing has been slow for the last week. very little tidal movement all day. a friend of mine and 3 others went down to baffin & 9 mile hole with a guide on sun. they came back with a small trout and a flounder for 5 fishermen...... fishing should pick up any day now.
