If you got a boat, and an extra seat... I'll show you how to use (gold spoons) ..
I'll even pay for all the (boat) gas, supply extra tackle, bait, etc...
Just let me know what time and which boat ramp to be at, I'll be there... |

Well dog do-do. That's what I've been doing wrong. I thought you just tied onto the end of your line and let them hang over the side of the boat. You got to throw them in the water. No wonder they never worked for me. _________________ Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock.

Check out Ray Crawfords book, link to it on the left. He has a few pages just on fishing the JFK causeway. He talks about different structures on both sides of the the road, like sandbars, pot holes, channels, etc. It also has arial maps of the entire area with the structure labelled. Granted, some of that structure may have shifted a little bit from year to year, but its a great start. I never thought that just pulliing off to the side of the causeway would be productive until I read his book and saw what he was talking about. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

No need to dress up the spoon. I would recommend a Johnson Silver Minnow 1/2 oz spoon in silver or gold. Add a bearing swivel between the line and the spoon, or the line will twist, and that will cause all kinds of problems. Don't use a cheap swivel, make sure it is a bearing swivel.
Not much extra action needed with the Silver Minnow vs a Sprite spoon. If you are site casting to Redfish, just cast in front and past the fish (so not to spook) and rip the spoon back. These spoons put lots of vibration in the water and believe me, the Redfish get very aggressive. I've had fish turn 180 degrees to hit the spoon on a poor cast. Hope this helps. First post was humor only...not to offend. Good luck. _________________ CARPE DIEM |

| That reminds me, I use to have fairly good success with the Tony Acetta spoons. Does anyone have success with them in the laguna's. That was a few years back ago. I'll have to pick up a few and try them down there. |
