I have a 17 ft. Montauk that has no bait well / live well of any kind, i was wondering about any suggetsions as to what type of portable would work. I don't want to spend alot of money as I only get down to the coast 5-6 times a year and space is limited on this boat. What about a 10 gal. Igloo water cooler, round and insulated?

Here is what I do in my yak when I go "offshore." 12 volt 500GPH bilge pump with a 6 volt rechargeable batter. Works like a champ, except that the water comes in faster than it drains out if the lid is off, which makes it flow over the top. I should have predicted that - given there is a pump on one end and the hoses are the same size. No biggie as it just drains out the scuppers, but not ideal. Still experimenting.

In the Buddy Love, Skipper's and my montauk, when Skipper fishes ( I quit fishing years ago to many on this site Very Happy ) he uses a five gallon bucket and a Mr. Bubbles aerator. Skippy graduated from F.B.I.T. Flour Bluff Institute of Technology with an advanced degree in ciphering so he would know.

Can't remember the math teacher, but the librarian was Mrs. Ritter and the frog cutter-upper teacher was Mr. Schweirzke.

The keepalive works great and is available at wally world. You can use it in a 5 gallon bucket.
