Hey guys, I am VERY excited about my vacation next week to Port Aransas. I live right outside of Galveston and fish a lot up here. How has the surf fishing been in that area. Is it expected to clear up at all next week? Also, where is the best spots to hit the surf.

Next question, if the surf is blown out where are some other good walk-in-wade spots. Im not bringing my kayak, so any spots that I can wade.

Lastly, I had a friend go to Port A and Corpus last year and caught quite a few mangrove snapper. Can anyone tell me if they are around this time of the year.

Any help would be great. I cant wait to get down there and enjoy the week with the family.

Thanks
kfigeley

Check out Rick Sanders Mustang Island report. If the surf is green you should be able to catch trout. There are all sorts of places to fish on the backside of Mustang or even around the Aransas Pass Causeway if the surf gets blown out. Mangroves might be in the rocks at Fish Pass or at the Port A jetties. Have fun!

We tried to fish the surf on the Pins, south of Bob Hall to the sticks and Pa this week and the grass is everywhere in the surf.

several yrs ago, waded by Fin&Feather on Stedman Island. Several folks were on the shoreline just down from F&F facing East.
Worked around the island but be very careful. Oyster reef thru'out and saw one local with a nasty cut. Would get some footwear protection if I went. Maybe others here can give input on that danger. Google and you can see all the water you can wade working that Oyster reef.
Didn't do any good that evening. It was falling tide....I'd suggest
doing it high tide......Oyster Reef = Piggies = Reds
should be a good spot.
good luck...let us know how you did
Dave
