Hit the water about 1pm and it was already windy, but water was pretty clear.

Set up drift towards some islands, and saw some reds. But with the wind being all crazy, i knew i couldn't drift the way i needed to be, so I dropped anchor and got out and waded. Threw the Super Spook Jr and after a few casts landed a nice 20-3/4 red. It fought hard, and even broke the back hook on the lure. Red was released to get bigger.

And this my lure of the day, it's been really good for me on the sand pockets and the reds and trout seem to be liking it. I got the single hooks and they work great in floating grass. I don't know the name of the hooks, I just told one of the guys at Roy's what I wanted and he went and got it for me.

Did some scouting around and found some reds hanging around sand pockets and grass lines, but with the wind ripping it was hard to stay in one spot long enuff to cast or drop anchor with out spooking them.

There's some nice fish out there just gotta cover some water to find them.

Thanks for the report. I will have to try that set-up. I have been wanting to work more top-waters but with the wind sending the grass floating it has been a pain with the treble hooks. Do you know what size hooks they are?

thanks for the report chuck. Lost that exact lure, single hooks and all, 4 nights ago trying to hoist a fat trout onto my deck while fishing the lights. Had to be a 20 sumthin, didnt have a net handy and I was on the phone while I was trying to land it. Its a great lure aint it?
