Decided that a forecast w/ hardly any wind rated a day off from work. Lil something different this morning, launched on the west side of the ICW (opposite side from Snoopy's) and paddled to the ENE, making it past the high-lines. Not much bait to be seen, but surprisingly a lot of topwater action. Problem was most were undersize by a couple inches (reds and trout). Lost two nice trout, one that is swimming around w/ a white and chartruese SS Jr Did manage to string one trout at a skinny 24". Pretty day on the water, but when the light breeze died at about 1200---it got HOT! Summer is here, and now we pay for our complaints about the constant wind.
24" topwater trout...
Slick calm...and HOT!
Not enough to make it "the place to be on Saturday".... |
