Hey guys. I was wondering if you guys could give me some good tips. I fish the PINS 2 or 3 times a year but usually use shrimp and mullet. I would like to try to catch some fish in the guts on lures this time. What are couple of good lures to use? I usually only go down about 5 - 10 miles. I do have a 4x4 and am trying to talk the wife into going further down this time. I appreciate your help. _________________ Good things come to those who Bait! |

Try Sprites, Kastmaster spoons, Johnson Silver minnows etc. Bass assassins usually with a 1/4 ounce jighead will work. I go to 3/8ths if the current is strong. Try throwing some topwaters She Dogs or Skitterwalks. Just try to fish in a spot where you would normally see someone swimming or soaking in the wade gut Folks not fishing seem to take up all of the good holes there up close to the pavement for swimming. |

Has anyone down there tried the hollow body swim baits yet? I've been using them for about a year now and they seem to be MADE for fishing down there! I rig them with a bottom weighted hook and they are weedless.............................. they kill bass in the weeds. I think they would be KILLER on the flats or anywhere that floating grass is bad!
I fish them on top with the tail slapping back and forth, in the water column, or a combination. You can pop them from under the surface and they make a GREAT mullet imitation!!! They could also be pulled right through the rocks on the jetties with very few hangups. Just like Gulp! shrimp, they aren't really tough but they catch the heck out of fish! _________________ Dave

Hey BigBass19 - I think I've fished with you before (last year) if you're the same one that fishes with IronShore and Rickr at Calaveras. I'll be driving down Sat night - Monday afternoon to meet a friend somewhere before the 20mm probably. Say hi if ya see me. I have the lifted white Tacoma with the dark green Big Game. Won't be hard to miss cause I'll have the big BRIGHT orange shark rack in the back of the truck.

Yep, that's me. I still go out there every Saturday I can. I will have to hook up with you some time so you can show me how to shark fish!! I'll be leaving Sat evening so we might cross paths. I'll be in a black dodge ram 1500 with camper shell on it. Maybe I'll see you out there. _________________ Good things come to those who Bait! |
