I WAS ARESTED YESTERDAY AT BOB HALL PIER AT 1:30 AND BANED FROM THE PIER FOR 1 YEAR.. IF YOU FISH THERE YOU KNOW ME.. I HAVE BEEN FISHING THEIR OVER 10 YEARS.. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE PARK DIRECTOR TO GET HELP FOR ALL FISHER MEN & WOMEN.. I HAVE BROUGHT UP THE FACT THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS GET UP THE RAMP WITH FISHING EQUIP..BECAUSE OF THE SAND..AND THE PEOPLE IN WHEEL CHAIRS HAVE A HARD TIME TO PUSH THROUGH..AND THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE RAILINGS ARE NOT BEING REPAIRED.. SO I HAVE ASKED OTHERS TO VOLENTER TO GET TOGETHER AND REPLACE THE BOARDS OR NIAL THE ONES THAT CAN BE FIXED..""YESTERDAY"" I WENT TO THE PIER TO MEET THE CARPENTER AND TELL HIM THAT I HAD PEOPLE TO HELP.. HE SAID FINE BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM.. SO HE WENT DOWN ONE SIDE AND I WENT DOWN THE OTHER SIDE.. EACH SECTION I PULLED ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM TO SEE WHICH ONES WE NEEDED TO FIX.. 2 OF THE BOARDS CAME OFF SO I LAYED THEM DOWN ON THE PIER..AND KEPT ON GOING TO EACH SECTION...THE CARPENTER PASSED ME HE WAS FINSHED HIS SIDE..SO I THOUGH HE WAS GOING TO GET WOOD AND SUPPLIES AND COME BACK SO "WE" INCLUDING MYSELF WOULD FIX IT.. HE RETURNED WITH THE "CC PD" AND CONSTABLE" THEY ARESTED ME FOR "RECKLES DISTRUCTIOM OF COUNTY PROPERTY'''AND ISSUED 2 CITATIONS AND BANDED FROM BHP FOR 1 YEAR.. ""IF FOUND GUILTY OF THIS..AS A DISABLE VETERAN I MAY LOSE MY INCOME AND SSI.. AND MY HOME... I NEED TO GO TO PORT A WITHIN 10 DAYS TO ANSWER THESE CHARGES " I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET A LAWYER TO GO WITH ME "" IF ANYONE CAN HELP PLEASE DO LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS..AND SUPPORT REMARKS...I WILL PRINT THEM OUT AND TAKE THEM WITH ME... CALL ME LEAVE A NUMBER I WILL CALL YOU BACK.. THANKS..BULLREDJIM...(361)334-7315

I emailed County Commissioner Chuck Cazales and pasted your details about your arrest to him. Hopefully he can get to the bottom of this since he is involved with the maintenance on Bob Hall Pier. I will let you know what he says.

Thats insane!!! What an A** of that guy, he knew what you were there for and what you were doing, he should of atleast pointed u in the right direction to the right source to have the problem resolved. Atleast maybe let u know it was out of his realm of authority to approve of anyone doing maintenance on the pier. I was on the pier about 2 weeks ago and noticed the same thing. Lots of Boards that sway, that could have either been tightened down or replaced. There was a section by a light that when u leaned on it, it felt like the thing was going to fall forward and u would be going along with it for a swim. Kind of scary. Anyhow, here is an honest person who wants to do an honest thing by taking time out of his life, to give back to the very things he enjoys. By helping repair the pier. All for free!! Jim sorry about the situation, i hope the issue gets settled without any other consequences. I would hate to hear anything happen like what u mention about losing ur income and house over a good gesture u were trying to do. I will pickett for u if we have to. And by the way thanks for trying to help keep all of us safe!

Sounds like the Constable and CC PD didn't have anything better to do. Why wasn't the carpenter arrested? Why were you arrested instead of just a citation given? It sounds like another case of NO COMMON SENSE !!
Hopefully with Tyler and Johnny French behind you, this won't go any farther and everything will be dropped. Keep us posted Bullredjim..

So they basically arrested you for pulling up a few boards? What did the carpenter say? What did the police say? What did you tell them and what were their replies?

Sounds like you embarassed the carpenter and made it painfully obvious that he wasn't doing his job. I've met people like that, who instead of accepting the help they need, they attack the helper! Insane. Hope the best for you and your situation.

Stuff like this really, really pisses me off. 2 policemen with g.e.d's probably giving a veteran trying to fix something a hard time?

That is so d.... st.... here we have Vets. that fought to keep us safe, and yet they get fined just to help out, as a disable non-Vet. I stop going to peirs because of the lack of repair on them, bob hall is the worst with all the sand in the entrance, that just goes to show who's WELCOMED!

BRJ, I"m behind you all the way, GIVE THEM H... buddy. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

If you remember the whole thing had to be redone because of cracked cement slabs which should have been inspected before each was laid, not after all were in place. After months and thousands of dollars it makes me wonder why it is in such bad shape also. It would not surprise me the contractor had a close relative in the upper echelon of the city government. Also makes me wonder if this is all part of schexscammers plan to privatize the whole beach.
