Interesting. It looks like a pretty neat concept, but I think I would have a hard time with confidence without a knot. Besides I can tie a uni knot just about as fast.

I tend to agree, but I'd be willing to try one of those puppies on a scale with other knots. On the 95% line strength thingy: that's kind of bogus because #1, most fishing line breaks at a higher test that the stated poundage and #2, as proven in in these videos, there are knots in existence that already go higher than that.

Something kind of cool here: I just got an e-mail from the maker of these hooks and they say that they'll send me some for a free test! I accepted their offer/challenge, so we'll see what happens and I'll post my REAL world results!!! Cool Wink

Kind of refreshing to say the least................. Very Happy

I don't know about point #1 and #2. I just know that if someone wants to send me a sample of a product to test it tells me that they are confident. So I will try them. What have you got to lose? Takes about 2 days to get them from when you send in your info.

I for one want to thank them for the chance to test them.

i like the idea...my fam has a long history of bad arthritis, maybe when I get older these will be all I can use. Or on days like today where my hands were totally numb and knot tying was difficult.

The guy from the maker (Ron) called to get my mailing address................................... very cool stuff indeed. I WILL give the hooks a fair shot, but I'm not only interested in the "no knot" thingy, I want hooks that are sticky sharp and tend to stay that way and also have great strength for their diameter, which is why I prefer Owner hooks over all others. We shall see! Cool

The Owner Mosquito hook is the best I've ever seen or used at hooking light biters like spadefish, sheepshead, etc. Even when snapping 20 lb test a few times on some big spades, I never had a Mosquito bend or open up, and I was using #2-3s....................... they are FINE wire!!! Shocked

The problem I see with these hooks is that they have to be at the end of the line, which may work for freelining shrimp or weightless worm set-ups.

It will not work then for setting up red or pomp rigs. It also won't work if you put a sliding sinker above it, because then you have problems with that sinker hitting and releasing the tension in the string.

Also seems like you would need to use a very light line or braid for it to work. Anything above 14lb mono won't lay flat enough and will contain enough spring back to push out and away from the hook.

I just see this as having a very limited market.

Interesting...when I fish bait, i snell the hook at the end of the leader for pinfish, piggies, and mullet and freeline without weight.... I use a heavy leader, like 30-40 pound test because you can just wrap around the shank and through the eye...it's very simple and very strong and takes just a few seconds to tie.

Needs a longer shank to get the line a bit further away from the barb for the South Texas fish that have teeth. Keep the ideas coming!

Re: easy2hook
Ok I am a believer. I have spent close to two hours since I received these hooks in the mail trying to get the line to slacken and come off. I am sure my neighbors think I have lost my mind at this point. I tied a hook on with my 30 lb power pro hooked the hook onto my chainlink fence backed off about 20 yards and started whipping my rod up and down back and forth yanking it hard enough to pull drag a few times. The braid stayed firmly attached with no slippage. Next I used a 24" leader of 17 lb mono and went through all the same motions. I finally broke the mono leader but there was no slippage at the hook. Same result with 20 lb p line leader. I do want to try them on a fish or two but I am confident that there will be no issue with the hook.
The only issue I have found so far is that some of the 80lb and up test mono I use for the coast will not wrap around the bead as the dia is to large. My 100 lb test braid worked fine however.
These hooks will not erase the need for knots, unless they come out with a swivel of the same design but as I said above, I am a believer now.
I will buy these hooks when they are on the shelf and I need hooks.
My hats off to Ron and his team for a very good product and I wish them success. They have earned my respect and business.

looking at how they are attached, it seems like all you need is a loop in the line and you can attach the hook anywhere, no? Looks like they just trim the free end off the loop. Seems like you would be able to put it anywhere, not just at the end, but maybe I'm missing something.
