How much did that set you back? I have $200 in gift cards from Academy. I have been wanting to get one for cooking tripas.

I have a friend who made one of these from a carbon steel disk. Once a good carbon layer seasons on, it cooks great similar to cast iron cookware. Sure it'll rust, but keep it good and oily and it'll be fairly well protected.

I have two other tractor plow disc type and they are ok. They don't hold enough tripas to feed the people on the 4 corners of Waldren & SPID... This thing rocks and I am going to buy 5 more and give them to my friends for presents....Should be a good tripa cook off today for the last Cowboy game!!! Wink

that container you used to batter the goodies sure was neat.. what do they call those things?? Also what do you use to drain the oil out? just a funnel and the old container?

Myself being a burn 3rd degree burn victim from a grease fire I sure do like that idea. Get the frying going on outside so if it goes up in flames I don't have to worry about it burning the house down I just can just let it burn out..

I would highly recommend a non-contact Laser Thermometer for the fry cooks out there. They are very accurate, and have come down in price.
