I received my copy of the Gulf Coast Fisherman yesterday and read a very inspiring article. Jeff Herman had written a page about Jerry and Deb, their Kayak tournament support and Deb's fight with cancer.
Great read......."Stop and Your Done"

For the past week, Jerry has been trying to find Gulf Coast Fisherman so that we could read the article that Jeff wrote, when Jeff approached me at the Final event of 3rd Coast and asked if he could write an article about my battle with cancer I was so moved I wanted to cry, actually I think I did cry a little bit.

Jeff, thank you so much for a wonderful article, I would not have you change it a bit, you had me laughing when you said “salty proprietors and opinionated do-it-yourself” we all know that fits Jerry to a tee, along with “it was a good ol’ genuine Texas Hotenanny” and called me “the mama-bear to a ragtag litter of surly cubs”, ya’ll did not seem so surly after a good meal. But then again I guess that is what a mama-bear does feed her cubs.

I am the one who is humbled from all the love, support and prayers I received from our TKF and 3rd Coast Kayak Families. Any one of you who has had a loved one or friend with cancer knows that it does not affect just the person with cancer but their entire family and circle of friends. Everyone handles the news differently, some get angry, some want to smoother, others distance themselves, some just shut down, and these are all normal responses as we are all human. My choice was to keep a positive attitude, not letting the cancer run my life or stop what I was doing, I knew if I stopped I would be done and I am far from being done.

With an open Heart and Mind I wish you all to be and stay Cancer Free

Here is their website:

http://gulffishing.com/

I consider it my saltwater bible because it has the times of how fast the water moves throughout the day (as well as tide tables).
