Got to the water late around 10am, light winds out of the east, 3 long drifts produced only 2 small specs, saw plenty of reds but could not get them to bite, I threw everything I had in the box and not one red on the hook after 3 hours Shocked

so the talley for today: 2 specs and 2 bags of trash, I'm gonna need a little help with the launch areaguys, there is a lotta trash! I figured out who to blame, It positively absolutely must be the DH's (Duck Hunters) Laughing

This way none of us fishermen need to feel singled out. ( I sure hope there aint no DH's on this board) Razz

Its safe to assume he released it. Either that or he got antzy and re-hooked it and tried throwing it to the reds, see if they would take live bait Razz
Thanks for the report and pics.

A 12" trout would make a "totally excellent" bait for an amberjack.... DUDE!

I'm guessing the 12" fish was released, but not sure why the big hole was added to his bottom jaw first.

Ok lets take the questions one at a time.

Yes they are inch marks
both are doing just fine swimming around shamrock looking for another meal, I only catch and release, I was a little worried about the little guy (12") because he swallowed the hook all the way past his gills but he did swim away.

I don't know how to discourage the small ones from hookin up but I assure you all that he lived and is back in the water.

I don't eat sea food!

As for the Duck Hunters! it was a joke!! after Fishman made the comment about PB's and all the hoopla over who done it and all Wink

I dont like handling them at all, I feel like I am doing more damage when I hold them in my hand while I remove the hook, I was trying to use the clamp device however it did more damage to the lower jaw, I was trying something different today with the stick seen in the photos, in hind site probably not a good Idea, my logic was that the hook does the same thing when you hook them in the mouth and it shouldn't have any effect on their breathing or eating and it heals fairly quick.

always looking for a better way to handle them less because I release all.
I know this is gonna get me flamed but if you have suggestions I am listening, I am not intentionally a cruel person. Embarassed

Barbless circle hooks catch in the jaw (usually) and remove easily. Fish gloves might help with the hold w/o damage to jaw.
My reply was in jest as I have read your posts and doubted you were so irresponsible as to keep dinks.
Damfine basura though!! WTG!!!

I should know better, it aint like I just started fishing last week.

Do they make Jigheads with a barbless circle hook? where can I get some of them? I sure do like using the plastics.

I've never found barbless on the market. Dremmel or die grinder works for me.
