Hello all,

My name is Ryan and I live in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. I fish 4-6 days out of the week here. Anyways, I will be visiting by mom who lives on Padre in about 10 days and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a few good places to fish from the bank or wade since I am too lazy to bring my yak down with me.... Also, I will be taking my step dad fishing with me who has never fished so if you could point me in the right direction to a good spot where we will find some action, that would be awesome!!! I would like to target trout, reds and flounder, the same stuff I fish for inshore here......... A tarpon or pompano would be great too, if you have them run thru there.

I have fam in FT Walton Beach. Beautiful place. As for fishing spots, check out
www.lagunafishing.com.

Also, you might be interested in some surf fishing if the winds are light and the sargassum is manageable.

Will you be visiting North or South Padre Island?

if North Padre, I'd go to Padre Island National Seashore and surf fish. From what I remember about FWB, the surf is much rougher there. If nothing else, you can always catch whiting on fishbites, at least I always do. Since you are going to be here a while, rent a yak and go in the intercoastal waters. It will be well worth it!

Put your question to Nick Meyer on www.BreakawayUSA.com. If he's free, hire him as your guide to the Padre Island National Seashore. He's got the 4WD you'll need to really enjoy the trip, anyway, and can show you all the nuances of Texas surf fishing. If he's not available, try Cap'n Billy Sandifer, who's been doing the same thing on the island, only forever. Don't have his web addy, tho. These are the pros in whose hands every lucky newby should land in.
