Does anyone have any good camp sites near Light House Lakes or Redfish Bay? I'm headed down to Corpus for the opening of dove season this upcoming weekend and want to fish Redfish Bay or LHL in the mornings. Goose Island will be too far from our hunt area, and my usual Bird Island camp site is a long way out as well. Anyways, just seeing if anyone here knows any good camp sites near LHL or RF Bay.

I have camped along that channel directly across the road from the LHL gazebo, but only during the winter months. Mosquitos can be thick during warm weather, and you have to watch the tides. An overly high tide will flood that area. At this time of year, I would opt to take the ferry over to the island and camp on the beach just south of access road 1A, about two miles south of Port A.

I agreee with vickers, with the recent rains the pest will be thick along with the higher than usual tides.. I don't know of any spots on the spoil islands in those areas that would be safe or allow for camping except along the highway..

And the tides are creeping up. Two weeks ago the tide was coming up pretty high on those parking areas on both sides of 361. However, the road along the back of Harbor Island (right behind the old Brown & root rig building facility at the ferry line) is open and there is a lot of space out on the island there to camp. If I was on a hunt/fish trip tho, I would go ahead and stay at Mustang Island State Park so I could shower.

Id camp on the other side, mosquitos arent that bad yet but definitly bring some off. Just keep a safe distance from the shore and you wont have problems with the tides although they have been pretty weird last couple of days.

I was thinking about Mustang Island State Park as well, but unloading the tent numerous times even before getting out on the water sure would be a pain. Also do the bay access roads out by MISP require 4WD or can I take my little Colorado in and launch out by Fish Pass? Anyone know?

Yeah I've done Shamrock with miniscule results. If I do Mustang Island SP I might head out that way, but I haven't found the fish out there yet...

The ICW RV Park in Aransas Pass you would not have to take the ferry and you can launch from Hamptons landing and be right there.
