My brother in law and I are headed out on the Scat Cat for the 12 hour tomorrow. I've only talked to one other person that has been on their charter. Anyone have any views or opinions of this particular charter?

I've used Dolphin Docks and Deep Sea Headquarters in the past, but they didn't have a 12 hour Thursday charter.

If Ronnie Hale or his dad (Sr.) are on board, you'll do just fine.

Spent 3 summers doing red snapper research on the Scat Cat.

# 1 - BRING YOU OWN ROD AND REEL if you have gear that can be used offshore!!!! The Scat Cat uses all electric set-ups for the 12 hour bottom-fishing runs. They usually set up some 4.0 Penn's off the stern and flat-line for kings and such, but the sides are all electrics.

I always used my 6.0 Penn and avoided the electrics.

# 2 - Get there early to get a low boarding pass number, and head to the stern to claim your spot. Be prepared for a SLOW ride, but that is usually the case on all the head-boats.

Most of the deckhands are adequate, but tend to be a bit rough-around-the-edges (but in their defense, having to deal with tourists all summer long can make anyone gruff).
