Tyler,
The Matanuska River, all but a mere 12 miles from me! Pics are authentic, taken June 15, 2009.
Initially posted on my private family site and in email to select friends...now it's fishing forum time!
It was cloudy and hazy today up in the mountains. If you think this picture is pretty,
http://img221.imageshack.us/i/img0058p.jpg/ ....then please know that I have uploaded more online @ this link:
http://s592.photobucket.com/albums/tt9/wasillajay/Matanuska%20River%2006-15-09/?albumview=slideshow
(Might have to clip-n-paste above link)
(If you see only a group of pictures and not a slideshow, then look for the "slideshow" button in the upper-right hand corner, and click on it....Then turn off the lights, sit back, grab a handful of popcorn and enjoy!)
I took a total of 41 pictures; and upon downloading this image from my digital camera, I jumped up with joy, knowing I now have another "gem in my pocket!"
Soon I'll edit the online slideshow, and add more pictures and subtract a couple already posted on the above URL. I am just learning how to use that program.
Anyone notice my tongue in cheek humor regarding that last photo, the one about Hatcher's Pass? Yeah, it may have been famous for its gold mine but I only care about the blueberries!
I love the study in contrasts, of light and dark, of river silt and upper elevation dirt, and of spruce and other trees I don't know the name (of)...Yep, it did rain an hour later, too; and if we stayed there we might have had a rainbow picture as well!
Don't forget to see Oz's tent on pic # 2...He is out camping with Gilligan!...
When I purchase a better camera I'm gonna zoom in on the river islands, to help show truly how up in the air I am -- and to show you OZ landing his FIRST KING!... One may look at the cliff picture in the above link and may think it is only fifty to one hundred feet to the bottom; but you'd be wrong! The "bottom" is way, way down there, almost a straight fall from it.
One can see Knik Glacier in the first picture. See the little "baby" mountain, as it appears at the base of the "momma" mountain? The glacier is that whitish part to the left of "baby"!
PS.... If those pictures make you *drool*...wait till my first King Salmon trip...Yep it begins T-O-M-O-R-R-O-W ....aint coming back till Monday (my woman has to watch her soaps by 11 am!....)
As I always say...STAY TUNED!!!!
In the meantime follow this tongue and cheek thread I created about a serial killer invading my campground this weekend

Beautiful pics, Crab. A trip to Alaska is still a distant dream of mine. Thanks for sharing. _________________ Character is doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do, not because someone else is making you do it.

I am with you on the blue berries. Are they blue berries or black huckleberries?
Thanks for the pictures. |
