I've read from time to time where someone will paddle out to the rigs you can see from the Packery Channel to catch some Red Snapper. I think they call them the 6 mile rigs. I figure that if it's calm enough for a kayak, that I could also visit that area with my flat bottom boat.

What would be the best months to go out there and find Red Snappers, assuming I find a nice calm day to go?

What would be the bait of choice?
