The folks on the defensive need to stop and catch your breathe. He is not accusing all PB of being polluters. He even showed the exact spot he cleaned up. His exact quote was...
"I spent about 10 minutes picking up all the beer bottles and cans, plastics bags, aluminum soda cans, plastics soda bottles, old fishing line and lot's more items.
( Trash that I know was let the PB's. )"
How you read all PB out of that is crazy. The trash he picked up was left by guys in power boats. Case in fact. Like saying the bad driver that rear ended me was driving a truck. Does that mean all folks driving trucks are bad drivers. No, just the guy in the truck that rear ended me.
This thread started off to encourage people to help clean up trash before some folkse decided it was a acusation about them personally because they own boats. That is just plain silly. But I guess that is the internet.
Well done on the clean up. |

i dont have a yak or a PB (apparently a new favorite abbreviation) so I will blame it on ALL of yall.
Wadefishermen never polute. Never. Not a single one of us. Leave nothing but footprints
On a less light note, during our beach cleanup we found a carcass of a small dog, about the size of a beagle with metal choke collar and a tag that was rusted so I couldn't read it. Looked a few weeks old.
Pretty sad. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

This explains how the trash got there....
You need a boat to get to this spot, Your not going to get there by foot. It's not always the PB's that leave the trash But, this time it was. So just move on and get over it.
I've been a PBer all my life and will naver give that up. I've been kayaking over 23 years now. I began using my surfboard to fish back in the 60's & 70's. I've had the pleasure of seeing and experiencing some of the greatest fishing, that most people only get see pictures and get to read about. My father had respect and the admiration for people and do to. That's why I think the strong values he instilled in me like fishing etiquette (respecting a fisherman's area), helping people and the fine art of using lures and soft plastics has made me the type of fishermen I am today. |

Yep and another spot we could lose is the oilfield rd back up Wilsons cut at Shamrock. I always fill a bag when leaving there (love that launch location)

Try thinking about the wind. Dominant from the SE. Trash could have been blow in after it was discarded by some discourteous "BF" somewhere around........ I don't know.......... Indian Point or beyond........... Maybe??????????
I refuse to believe that "PB's" trashed the area like that. Seen it too many times at the different jetty's, piers and other favorite "BF" spots.
I would like to say however, thanks for picking it up. It takes a certain type of outdoorsman to have enough insight to go out of his way to do that. Thanks again. |

Nope this area is not trashed due to tides or wind. There is an obvious area where that debris collects and its massive.
Hey I don't think it was kayakers who abandoned the boats back there...lol Peace _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

Thanks Fishman for picking up the trash!!
No matter who left the trash taking the time to pick it up and haul it back takes a lot. I know I don't always pick up trash when I see it but I'm making more of an effort to do so. I already have a box of trash bags in my truck that I keep back there full time
Now you just need to take me back to all of your secret "trashy" honey holes and I'll help you out |

Head upstream, take the first creek to the right, drag the yak over the mud and your there! I looked the spot up on google earth and I think I saw a kayaker throwing cigarette butts in the water, with a hook in them no less! |

That would be the road...but you didn't get a topic about how they trashed the place just about the size of the group. I am not sure which group that was but if it is the PACK? group they make a point to police their area after they leave..Peace _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. Nice reds and great example for all of us on cleaning up an area. The only thing wrong was the terms PB's. Exactally what did that add to the purpose of your post? If it was the Murphy family reunion that left the trash would you have commented that a bunch of Irish trashed the area? Or the Garza family reunion would be a bunch of Mexicans? I have a thick skin and it didn't bother me in the least. It was simply unnecessary.

For what it's worth, here is a sign an environmentally conscious, vigalante-obsessed crazy man nailed to a tree, near the Little Susitna River, on a little known access road that leads to a boat ramp:
http://img504.imageshack.us/i/012aji.jpg/
It was scribbled upon a stolen U.S.P.S parcel box, aside of an old washing machine and car motor dumped on the ground....I took pictures of it this past summer and posted it online to an Alaska- based fishing forum, hoping to deter others from polluting the river with personal refuse; and to laugh that even though I didn't post the sign, the message will come across that some wild-eyed freak may slash your tires if you don't heed the threatening message. |

I went fishing the last 2 days, I kinda thought you guys would have gotten over this by the time I got back!
Nobody really knows who left the trash, it could have been anybody, I have personally hauled 2 large bags of trash since this thread started, if all of us would make an effort we would soon find a better place for our hobby.
on a much better note! I found quite a few RED's,Trout and Flounder today along the southern side of Mud Island, wind was calm, drift was perfect, not too many boats in the area. |
