yeah, our "cleansing" was not what it has been in previous years but I still am happy to finally get it. Yes, there was lots of saltwater and a big tank of dye marker along with plenty of singing. I have a couple of pictures but I have to email them to someone to post because I can't get on photobucket out here. My email is mark.reed@cvw5.navy.mil _________________ still chasing my 30" trout |

wheres the floating garbage? That looks like jello. Where's the old shellbacks swinging cut-off firehose and whipping you on the backside. Wow we didn't have girlys on the ship back then, hmmmm that could be interesting. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

that's what I was getting at when I said that it isn't what it used to be. It's really toned down. No hitting, no food, no garbage. Pretty much all saltwater and the dye marker tank with a lot of singing. It didn't last long either, only about 4 hours of singing and about 2 1/2 hours of that getting sprayed indirectly with a 1 1/2" firehose that uses saltwater. It's voluntary and still some people didn't want to do it. I wasn't going to miss it, I waited too long to be where I could do it. I was in WA but my squadron was attached to an East Coast ship so no real chance until then. The funniest part was having to sing the barbie girl song to King Neptune to be deemed worthy. Yeah, I came in the Navy about the time when carriers were first getting females so I wouldn't know how it used to be on that one either but I have been in since the summer of 98, _________________ still chasing my 30" trout |

We had a couple of girly mans who didn't participate. At bedtime they would lay in their racks an chew on a lug of bologna until they fell asleep. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Grats...I made shellback going to Australia from Japan back in 94. Sometimes when I get hearburn, I can still taste some of the stuff they made me eat. _________________ seasonalsalt |
